Give credit where credit is due

Estes Technology Group is proud to have delivered the site for Wilshire church of Christ to their ministry staff, who have been doing a great job getting to work on the content and getting it updated for their specific needs.  I’ll encourage you to visit them at and take a look around.

In developing Wilshire’s site, I found it a bit more interesting than others I have done, particularly in the software used to initially develop the site.  I’ve been beta testing Microsoft Expression Web Developer, which provided the basic layout of the site.  Despite the problems associated with a beta release, it turned out to be a pretty good tool this time around.  Once it was delivered, I worked with the office staff to be able to use their prior installation of Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.

Since I’m a fan of using Open Source, beta, and free software in developing, I think it’s only fair to give credit to those who do hard work, so I can deliver better products to my customers.

For the form (prayer request), we used the FormMailer script from Byrd Development Services, which can be found at

We used Trumba’s free calendar service (, which is an easy way to implement a calendar for the site.  The great part is that it can be edited on-line without any software to install, and Trumba’s calendars have options for RSS, iCal, and the ability to import calendar events into Outlook, Yahoo, and several other on- & off-line calendars.

The weather info on the front page is provided by Weather Underground  Here in Oklahoma City, it’s not uncommon to have churches and schools close during heavy winter storms, so having the weather on the opening page is a great benefit to those looking to see the weather at the church building.

If you have any questions about the content of Wilshire’s site, please contact them at or (405) 843-9124.

If you have any questions about the development or design of Wilshire’s site, or any other site we’ve worked on, or if you’re interested in talking to us about work on your site, please e-mail
